About Me

Dr. Deborah J. Barry, DAcHM, L.Ac., M.S.T.O.M., Dipl. OM
Deborah earned her bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Not sure what she wanted to do career wise, she moved to St. Croix, USVI. While kayaking there, she sprained her wrist. It was after her first acupuncture treatment for wrist pain, that she saw the amazing and profound healing that can occur with acupuncture. She moved to San Diego, CA and started acupuncture school at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, now known as Pacific College of Health and Sciences, PCHS. She graduated from PCHS in 2004. She had a private practice for 16 years in San Diego. She completed the Classical 5 Element Acupuncture Program in Santa Monica, CA in 2005 with Neil Gumerick, L.Ac. She completed her Doctorate of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in 2025 at Institute of Clinical Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, ICAOM. She was a teaching assistant for PCHS from 2004-2006. Deborah is a Diplomate of Chinese Medicine from NCBAHM. She is board certified in these states of Hawaii, California, and Colorado. In addition to her private practice, she teaches and supervises Interns at ICAOM, in Honolulu. She enjoys being an “auntie” to many of family and friends’ dogs as well as swimming and snorkeling.
